Prison Pulse Report

My right wrist is out of use (due to my first heart attack and stroke in 1999. I’ve had four of both), and when transferring from my wheelchair to the bed in August 2023, my right lower leg gave way. I fell and my right shoulder hit the concrete wall, knocking my shoulder bone out of the socket. It has not been put back in place since then, despite getting an x-ray and being seen by an orthopedic specialist. I wasn’t even given any pain meds. I’m buying pain relief pills (a bottle of Tylenol 325mg) from the commissary; I go through a bottle per week. My pain exceeds level 10 nonstop; I can’t remember when I’ve had a single night of comfortable sleep. The one thing I was prescribed was a rubber/foam ball to exercise my hand. But they haven’t filled it yet.

I also have cataracts in both eyes. It gets harder to see every day; A friend types my email messages for me. I was told I’d see the eye surgeon last year, but there’s a two-year waiting list!

Another medical problem is sleep apnea. When I was transferred here, I had a CPAP machine, but it was lost and they still haven’t replaced it. Oh, and when they give you a colonoscopy, they don’t use anesthesia. Very uncomfortable!
