Prison Pulse Report

Two water mains burst in the city of Atlanta. The next day, staff placed us on lockdown, confining us to our cells "until the water is fixed," but did not provide any bottled water. They told us we could not drink or shower with water from the taps. (The unit counselor yelled at us for complaining, and said we can go 30 days without water! He just said to put iodine in the water so we can drink it. But who has that?) They didn't let us out of our cells until June 2, at approximately 5:40 p.m. ET. And it wasn't until lunch the next day that we received our first bottle of water. Bottom line: For 72 hours, we were denied potable drinking water. We were forced to drink poisoned water from the sinks in our cells. The only other fluids we were given were two eight-ounce skim milks at each breakfast. Yet the average grown man needs approximately 16 8 ounces of water per day to avoid dehydration.
