Prison Pulse Report

These lockdowns are violating our constitutional rights and blocking our access to the courts! During the last seven months, all the lockdowns have been due to the SHU being full. They only do kickouts once a week and that’s ONLY if someone has served all of their SHU time. If they catch someone they suspect to be high on something and the SHU is full, the entire unit is locked down until there is a kickout. In other words, they are subjecting the rest of us to punishment and violate our right to due process. The individual who goes to the SHU will eventually have his hearing, but the rest of us suffer with no recourse.

On average, my unit has been off of lockdown just 10 days out of the last three months! We got locked down yesterday evening because of a “power outage,” but the reality is that they simply cut the breakers after the front office staff was gone. (The generator did not kick on at all and we were out for 20-25 minutes with the power off and COs saying “Ya’ll not taking advantage of the blackout.”
