My previous cellmate William Doyle III has been incarcerated for almost 40 years. He was sent to USP Coleman 1 to be treated for his cancer and never received it. After his hip socket collapsed he ended up in a wheelchair. Again, he received no treatment. When he filed a compassionate release motion in the 7th circuit court, the BOP lied, stating he was being treated. After the court requested the BOP present proof that he was being treated, they kept filing for extensions. Earlier this year they transferred him to Butner Medical Facility for treatment of his cancer, which they denied he had for around three years. This man who has completely changed his life from the young man he was almost 40 years ago keeps being denied any relief even though there are doctors and a whole support system waiting to give him treatment upon his release.
I recently heard from his daughter, and he has now has five treatments left. But .. he is leaking blood and they think it’s because the cancer spread to his colon. He’s 72 and they are slow-rolling his treatment.
