Prison Pulse Report

Conditions here have greatly gone downhill. There’s no psych support for people addicted to drugs, or for people dealing with the threats triggered by drug sale and use. (I recently went out for a cardiac test and had a big PTSD issue. I came back asking to meet with someone for help to sort this out. But there isn’t even one staff member here who cares about an out-of-control PTSD event. We have just one person in psych for over 900 people, and she is NOT “user friendly.”)

People wander the halls lost in a “fog.” Because so many people cut electric cords to make stingers to heat water and food, we aren’t allowed to have any heating elements to cook the dehydrated foods we purchase. (We can, however, buy splitters on commissary so we can watch purchased movies.)

There are daily threats and fights using weapons like locks in socks. If staff writes a shot related to any of this, it gets expunged so the behaviors continue. Even the guards are fed up. Yet, some of us are truly good inmates. (That’s all you hear over the public address system: “Inmate #….., come to the office!” And we have so many trans people here that sex is a constant source of fights.

Classes are constantly cancelled, because staffing is low and staff needs to augment to fill posts.

I recently went out for a cardiac test and had a big PTSD issue and came back asking to meet anyone to sort this out…….”report to a staff member”…………there is not one staff member here that could care less about an out of control PTSD event. We have one person in psych for over 900 people and she is NOT user friendly.
