Prison Pulse Report

On Sept. 9, I was in an altercation in my cell when officers came in. They ordered us to stop fighting, which we did. Then they said to cuff up and sprayed OC about three times. It was to the point when me and the other inmate couldn’t breathe. After that, we were cuffed through the slot; when i came out of the cell, my ankles were shackled and my hands were restrained behind my back. I let the officer know I couldn’t breathe, but he told me he didn’t care about a Black inmate dying, etc. When i finally get to Medical to be assessed, the PA tried to throw me over the medical table and the nurse called “staff assault.” I said, “How am I assaulting staff if my hands and feet are restrained?!” Then all the other officers came and put me in a restraint chair. They took me to a room,  laid me on a mat and stripped me naked. I was kicked in the nuts and an officer stuck his fingers into my buttocks. I felt violated. But told me to, “Shut up before I place my flash light there!” Then they put chains around my rib cage like a noose and tightened the handcuffs to the maximum. Same with my ankles.

I was kept like this for about 18 hours. They came in every two hours to torture me: exposing my face to mace, bending my hands in the cuffs. When I complained to the nurse, she said, “I don’t care about your pain, you nigger.” After I endured all this, I no longer have feeling in my left hand and I have a tattoo around my ribs from the chain. The only people they put in restraints are Blacks.
