Prison Pulse Report

I have been here since October 2024. When I first got here, this facility was okay. But since then, things have just gone downhill: food, commissary, cleanliness, respect. We are barely eating, there is very little in commissary to buy. We don’t get enough products for our periods. There is nothing to clean with, and mold is just painted over. Most of the time, sick call is cancelled. I haven’t been given a Pap smear since I’ve arrived! We don’t get the required rec time. The guards are rude and we are talked to like dogs. I understand we are in prison because of our wrong choices but that doesn’t make us less than human. The regional staff has come through several times and when they do, we are placed on lockdown and not allowed to speak with them.

My most pressing concern though is the food and canteen. We’ve been eating shredded chicken and spaghetti for almost two months. They claim they are running out of food and trying to make things stretch. The only time we get a salad bar is when region comes. Then it is taken right back down and that has been happening since I arrived in October. I feel like if there is no food in the kitchen, then there should be food in commissary. But there isn’t; the first two groups to shop get what they need and the rest of the people are out of luck. There isn’t any rice, chips, meat, shoes or clothes. And they aren’t doing anything to improve it.
