Prison Pulse Report

We had just come off a week’s lockdown on December 5. The next day, two incidents happened: An officer was assaulted in two different units. The entire prison was locked down, although on December 17 it started easing a little: We are now able to make a five-minute phone call once a day and we are on the flats (unit) from 8 a.m. until 3:45 p.m., then locked down for the remainder of the day. We also have been limited to spending only $25 on commissary. That will increase to $100 on December 30, and then to $180 on January 6, as long as no more assaults occur.

I just don’t understand why we are punished collectively. Mass punishment should not be used. The facility needs to just start shipping out the individuals who commit the assaults. Or, since they act out when they are high, ship them out if they get high two to three times. They also need to hold the officers accountable for all the drugs at this facility, not just the prisoners. Anyone can see how the drugs are getting in here.
