Prison Pulse Report

I just went to the SHU for 24 days and could not believe how they treated the people. In 24 days, I got to go to recreation only one time. I just went to the SHU for 24 days and could not believe how we were treated. In 24 days, I received recreation one time. The book cart is supposed to be brought around once a week, and you’re allowed to borrow two books. But the book cart never came around at all. Staff wants you to turn in a cop-out saying you want a book, but when you do, it always gets lost or delayed. As for mail, my cellmate’s wife sent him 16 to 20 letters, and all of them were returned to her! And he didn’t get any rejection notices.

In addition, the officers were disrespectful times 10. When they made us change cells every 14 days, they threw my sheets and blanket in the shower and wouldn’t replace them. They brought me and my celly food trays with items missing. If you bang on the door to get the lieutenant”s attention so you can ask him for what’s missing, the next thing you know, the officers are suited up — putting you in hand cuffs, stripping your cell of everything and forcing you to wear the paper outfit that’s designed for people on suicide watch. And then, if you want to appeal after seeing the DHO, staff won’t give you a BP10. If you do manage to get one, they won’t allow you to use a pen. It’s the worst SHU I have ever seen in over 14 years.
