We are handing out mattresses to the new arrivals, and they don’t have plastic coverings, some are cut in half lengthwise, and all are dirty.
These new people arrive and have nothing, no tablets to watch TV on, no hygiene items. Most of us are out of hygiene to give away, I did manage to buy bars of soap this week but who knows how often commissary will be open at this place.
Plus, it is horribly hot in here and there are no fans for these ladies to purchase. The rec area at least has some airflow, but it’s shut down nearly daily for this or that. Tomorrow it closes at 1:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3 pm.
I had a new gal in my room last night for help, because her bunkies were sorting through her paperwork and clothing because she did not have a lock. Of course I loaned her a lock as she lives with a very nasty woman.
We are sad we cannot help more than we are. For two weeks I did not even have a bar of soap to give to the new arrivals. It’s a sad darn mess for new arrivals. They did give the early ones a LITTLE hygiene bag with two small bars of soap in it and enough shampoo packets to wash their hair one time. Just sad.
All these people are here with nowhere to go, no radios, no tablets, no commissary…and staff wants everyone to stay locked inside. Not good. There are picky little fights all over.
