Prison Pulse Report

FCI McKean has become intolerable since August 14, when the latest lockdown started. Prior to this time, lockdowns would be for a few days. This time, they’ve only been let out of their cells Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for two hours to take cold showers, clean their bunks, etc, Most of the time, the phones and email computers are cut off so they can’t be used to communicate with family. My significant other also was denied a phone call with his lawyer to work on his appeal. The men have no access to outside rec, religious services, classes, work or the law library. Meetings with counselors are sparse. Medical care is denied to many.

Why is this happening? It always seems to be about the SHU being full. But then the whole place suffers. Many of the men want to do their time and go home. Mine is one of them; he is supposed to be released with good time credits  in April or before.

This is my first experience with prison and my eyes have been opened to what it really is: It’s like being a hostage. I have written to the BOP regional office and the DOJ three times, along with my state representative. Why is it so hard to get answers and help?
