Prison Pulse Report

At this facility, we aren’t allowed visits every week. We can only get visits twice a month, on the first and third Saturdays and holidays. When I was at a USP for 10 years, visits every weekend and holidays. They told us last year they were going to every week on Jan 1, but it hasn’t happened yet.

We are also having problems with our mail. Staff say the post office is crossing out our stamps (saying they’ve already been used) and sending our mail back. But we are use new “forever” stamps. In addition, the commissary has not had stamps for sale for over two weeks!

Also with the canteen, I’ve been told to watch my sugar by the doctor, along with the many diabetics here. Yet, while we can buy 20-30 Honeybuns, cookies and chips, etc., we can only purchase two packs of raw almonds and trail mix. There are so few healthy products available and the items we can buy, we can only purchase two.

I want to also mention the tablets. When the BOP first advertised them they said we would be able to do video visits and watch educational programs. But all there is are old movies. Jails have way better tablets and the people there are not even sentenced or doing time.
