Prison Pulse Report

Today I woke up to the business end of a rifle! The SORT crew raided my unit with paintball guns and hot guns (live firearms: M-4s and Glock 17s). Anyone who is a Muslim or happened to be in a cell with one was held in cuffs from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the SHU, without food, water or access to the bathroom. By the time we got back to our cells at 2:50 p.m., our cells were a mess and half of our property was gone.

I heard later that staff got a tip that there was a gun in our unit, so the live guns were authorized. But the intel that SIS got was bogus; they didn’t even vet the source.

Another source: We were locked down for two weeks while the administration made us stay in the cell five days with no shower, finally giving us a shower on the fifth day. While we took a shower, they came in our cells and searched all of our belongings. When we came out, the whole institution was placed on a “phase system” as the warden called it, limiting the compound to $50 commissary spend. This compound is experiencing too many issues; we barely have paper because they say there is a paper shortage. And if one person gets caught smoking K2 or other drugs and is designated for the SHU, the administration locks down the entire unit because our SHU is too full!
