Prison Pulse Report

When we’re locked down, it’s either all day, of “modified”: locked in until after the 4 p.m. count, and then just for a few hours until 8:30 p.m. We are rarely unlocked at the regular 6 a.m. time. They say they are short-staffed until the 8:30 a.m. officer is arrives, with just one officer bouncing between two or more units overnight. That causes the medical and dental departments to begin seeing patients much later than they’re supposed to, thus aggravating the backlog.

Outdoor rec isn’t offered to us regularly here. Neither are moves to Education and the chapel. The SHU is always full.

We’ve been locked down since last Friday (Oct. 11), “pending SHU.” That meant our unit and another unit only got one day out (last Thursday) between two full lockdowns. The whole compound was locked down for the holiday weekend, as is usual on holidays here.
