Prison Pulse Report

I have been at FCI Tallahassee since July 2024. I came in with a severe seizure history, which started after injuries I sustained in the military. I have been trying to get in to see a neurologist for more than a year, starting during the pre-trial phase.

My wife gave them a list of the medications I’ve been on, and with them, my seizures were down to one or two a week. But when I got here, I went without for almost a week, and when they finally put me on, I was given only a very low dose Depakote. I had been on 1000 mg plus a secondary med, but they are only giving me 500 mg Depakote. I also need a high blood pressure medicicne, but they put me on HTZT, which I had tried earlier and it ended up causing kidney failure. They refuse to change it, so I am refusing to take it.

I was finally sent to see a neurologist from here after I went to court about my medical issues, seeking release. The judge ordered it. That was just after Jan. 1. He ordered a lot of tests but they have not been done. The doctor warned me that without proper care, I could be “sipping through a straw” soon.

Meanwhile, in December, I slipped and fell on a wet floor that had not been marked with a sign. I hit my head and x-rays showed I had concussion. But I got no other exam or treatment, and I am seeing spots in my vision. I also have headaches, I’m thirsty but I’ve lost all appetite, and I’m still having seizures. When I asked for the accident report, the AW for programs said it is “missing.”
