Prison Pulse Report

I asked the nurse today if she had antacids for my stomach. She said no, but that I can buy it from the commissary. Well, i can't afford that. These people are making lots of money off of us by not giving us what we need. Hygiene is the same way. In my unit (D-3), staff refuse to give us basic hygiene items, saying we need to buy them ourselves from commissary. We have to buy soap, shampoo, razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, deodorant, pens, paper to write on, toilet paper -- all the essentials we need for normal living. Other units are different, but can be bad in their own way. The counselor in B-2 makes inmates demonstrate that they can't afford buying from commissary before giving out hygiene items.
