Prison Pulse Report

We are locked down at 5:45 p.m. daily due to a staff shortage. And if they’re really short on weekends, our visits are cut short.  As a result, we don’t have any programs in the evenings. There are two sides to this prison: A and B. Staff on B side leave for home at 6 p.m., so there’s only one officer controlling both sides of the units; that’s why we lock down at 5:45.

Plus, Medical has to come down for a sick call request just to put you on the list for the provider to see you. But then it takes months to be seen. I requested to be seen for my wrist (I think I had a stroke; I don’t have much feeling in it) and my knee. I’m on the waiting list for an MRI, and I keep requesting a C-PAP machine due to my sleep apnea. I was told by the doctor here that they are not giving anyone a machine, but if you come to the facility with one you can keep yours. They believe that sleep apnea is not life-threatening! The sleep apnea has caused me to have severe migraines and I’m sleepy all day because i only sleep about two hours a night. My judgement and decision-making is off. I have had a C-PAP machine for over eight years. The marshals broke my machine and I’ve been trying to get a new one for three years now.
