Prison Pulse Report

They are trying to thin the numbers in the MAT program. I was on 16 mg, a high dose, and was accused of tampering with my suboxone strip while standing in line (which medical calls diverting). The officer on duty said he saw my hand near my mouth, but all I did was scratch my face. When he placed me against the wall and looked in my mouth, the strip was there under my tongue. The nurse looked and saw it and said, “Ok, you’re good. But the officer still wrote me up for pulling the strip out while he wasn’t looking, then slipping it back in — all in the matter of 5 seconds. I spoke to the nurse today and she said that I don’t have anything to worry, about but another nurse said i was would get kicked off the program through an email.

This program saves lives. It keeps people from overdosing in prison and using other opiates. Taking me off the program without winding me down or tapering me off would be very harmful and possibly deadly. This institution makes us do everything by the book no matter what, but the staff do whatever they want.
