On 9/25/24, I was robbed at knifepoint by two inmates when I returned from commissary. Five from two other cells were also robbed the same way. All of us have known sex charges. Five of the six victims submitted written requests to be moved to different a different unit; we explained what had happened, except we did not state the names of the robbers. That would have further endangered us if the cops didn’t handle the situation correctly. I spoke personally to the unit manager about the danger. However, he said that “something very serious” would have to happen before we were moved
We’re basically being thrown to the wolves. Instead of protecting inmates with legitimate concerns, they are taking guys to the SHU for using the phone improperly or smoking. It appears that the cops here place zero value on my safety.
Update: The next time we went to commissary, I was ok I wasn’t robbed. But another inmate with a sex charge was; his entire commissary purchase ($134 worth).was taken.
