I went to the hole on March 31, 2026. The officers who went to my room (on camera) removed two feet of legal work, which took 10 hours to accumulate; the artwork Christopher drew for me at age 6; and other less important items. I have an inventory sheet from the next day, April 1, listing the property taken. On April 8, I explained to the captain when he walked by that I have active legal cases I have to work on. He responded that he wasn’t going to give me any of my property and walked away. (I also asked why I was in the SHU and he refused to answer that as well.)
On April 16, I filed a BP8 with my unit counselor, stating that I was being denied access to the courts because I was not allowed to have my legal work for two open cases. The response April 22: “The property officer is overwhelmed due to the recent mass searches. Unit team will attempt to get your legal work as soon as possible.”
I inquired again on May 20 and was told this time that none of my legal material could be found, although SIS confirmed that it had placed everything in the property room. I have had to file a tort claim for $456. I have yet to receive a response!
This place has a history of discarding inmates’ property, even after it has been inventoried.
