I’m a military inmate. I don’t have a criminal history or mindest; I have nothing in common with anyone in here. And I don’t think drugs should be openly available to inmates when the entire purpose of incarceration is to reform the offender to be able to conform to social standards.
On Sept. 17, 2024, while I was at USP Hazelton, I made a list of cell numbers and noted what knives and drugs SIS could find in each one and passed it to my unit team. The team made copies of it and provided it to SIS, which searched the unit and removed a haul of weapons and drugs. SIS gave a copy of my note to other inmates, and on Sept. 18, when I came back from my job, I was attacked in my cell by inmates from five different groups. I was stabbed six times and beaten in the head with a lock over a dozen times. I went to medical, was taken to the hospital and requested PC status. They transferred me to McCreary and I arrived on the 27th of November.
On the 9th of December, I was interviewed by SIA at McCreary about what happened at Hazelton. The next day I was moved out of the integration unit two weeks early into a regular unit despite my requests to be sent to the Challenge program. I sent an email to my lawyer about my interview with SIA and my central office complaint and the next day, on Dec. 13, I was assaulted by inmates in my cell after they had a huge meeting about me. I went to medical but SIS did not come to interview me. The captain asked me what was going on and I explained what had happened at Hazelton. He told me that I shouldn’t write notes because that tends to get around and before I could argue, he told me “don’t fuck with staff” and left the room. I went to the SHU on PC and waited for another transfer.
I’ve discovered that I’m headed to USP Atwater, which I am told is a nonviolent “second chance” yard and has a RHU program. If they do not let me go to the unit I will have to check in again.
