On Aug. 19, 2025, the counselor working my unit [L4] called me the N word and challenged me to a physical altercation while my cell door was open for the 8:30 p.m. lockdown. He spoke to me this way repeatedly, out loud and in front of other inmates in the immediate area. I filed a BP-8 and was never interviewed about the issue, yet I was told I had to wait for a response before I could move to the next step. The counselor was allowed to continue to work my unit, where he provokes me by laughing and smiling when he sees me. He even got one of his fellow corrupt, racist officers to be assigned to my unit as the regular on Saturdays and Sundays.
On Nov. 1, 2025, this other CO began to harass me. I was using the toilet and he yelled outside my cell door, asking why I had the window covered. I yelled that I was using the toilet. He stated, “No, you’re not! I’ll be right back!” Three minutes later, he returned and opened the cell door while I was still on the toilet. He sad, “Oh, you’re on the shitter, huh? Hurry up and wipe that brownie. I’m shaking your room down!” He stood there with the door open, making me wipe myself. Then he ordered me to walk to the dayroom. I complied and was walking down the range when he yelled, “You need to speed up, Blacky!” and pushed me in the back. I told him he didn’t have to assault me, since I was complying with his order. He became enraged, yelling “Get your black ass on the wall or I’ll dump you on your fucking head!” When I complied, he aggressively began to conduct a search of my person. Then he ordered me to the dayroom, where he conducted a search of my shoes, then threw them at me. He closed the door and radioed for the compound officers to come get me, saying he “GOT ONE THAT NEEDS A SPECIAL SEARCH. The compound officers took me to the lieutenant’s office, where they violated me more. They told me to “bend over, lock your knees, reach back and spread your cheeks.” Then they sent me back to the unit after shift change.
The next day, the officer came back and when he was opening our cell doors and got to mine, he said, “Hey Wasson, are you and that brownie in a better mood today, or do you need another special search?” I ignored him and he continued to open the rest of the doors. After breakfast, he called me and I told him that I was staying on camera where I could be seen. He began to call me bitch\pussy\snitch and said I just got my whole block shaken down. He got a trash bag and began to go cell to cell saying to the inmates, “This is because of Wasson!” The next day, i filed a grievance and he was removed for one week. But after the PREA investigation, he returned to the unit. As the inmates were going to breakfast, he told them that “if you guys don’t want your cells fucked up, make Wasson get out of your unit!” After breakfast, he began to go cell to cell, shaking them down and saying, “This is because of Wasson.” He even offered to bring them whatever kind of drugs they wanted if they assaulted me.
My family has continuously reached out to the regional office about the continued harassment and threat to my safety, but nothing was or has been done. I filed a sensitive BP-10, but the region shut me down, saying it was not a sensitive issue. Now the officers are plotting a way to retaliate against me for filing paperwork. Every time I leave the block, when I come back I search my area and property to make sure no one has planted a weapon in my things.
