Prison Pulse Report

A woman’s so-called “friends” chose to give her a copious amount of pills (40+). She died of an overdose. But it was preventable.  The same guard walked by her two days in a row and did not evaluate the situation or report it. Because he thinks so poorly about inmates, he turned a blind eye and kept walking. There is no rehabilitation here, and those who were involved learned nothing. The only response by staff was to remove one medication from the pill line, thus adversely impacting older inmates who use it to balance out another psych drug. Punitive actions do not change drug addiction. It’s supply and demand……making money!

I nursed for 40 years so I see all sides of this issue but I know the bottom line: The BOP talks a good game, but fails us all.
