Prison Pulse Report

My husband was put in the hold 75 days ago, and has not been given a copy of his lockup order. He has not been charged with anything. He is confined to a wheelchair due to progressive spinal collapse, yet receives no assistance. They told him he has to get in bed, use the bathroom and take a shower by himself. So, he has to sleep in his wheelchair. And because he is stuck in his wheelchair for so long, his legs are super swollen and painful. He has asked to see a doctor and no response. Meanwhile, they took everyone off his email and call list.

His medical history:

In 2017, an MRI revealed severe, multilevel spinal disease (cervical stenosis with cord deformity; thoracic disc protrusions that indent the spinal cord; and lumbar herniation that compresses the right S1 nerve root, along with bladder distention. In August of that year he signed consent forms to allow an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion with instrumentation. However, the surgery never went forward.

In 2019, he was hospitalized for caudal equine syndrome (CES). Records document urinary retention, fecal incontinence, saddle anesthesia, and severe stenosis at L5-S1. Doctors documented the need for surgical decompression, but it did not occur.

In 2021, MRIs once again confirmed CES, with worsening cervical protrusions with never root impingement, lumbar stenosis and severe degenerative collapse.

In 2023, a neurosurgeon declared that his incontinence is now permanent due to untreated compression.

In 2024, MRIs again showed active CES and demonstrated that his condition is not stable as claimed by the BOP but is progressively worsening.
