Prison Pulse Report

Back in January, we were put on lockdown status. Three or four days prior to that, my celly and I told staff that we had no running water or a working toilet. As a result, we had to use a mop bucket just to flush the toilet. Then, when we were locked down for about three weeks or so, we were stuck in our cells for at least nine days with a toilet that was FULL of shit and piss (to the top). The smell was so bad me and my celly gagged and vomited the whole time. We tried our best to eat, but ended up just throwing a lot of the food back up. I eventually started pissing in empty bottles and shitting on a newspaper on the floor because the toilet was just so full of shit and piss that if I sat on the toilet, I’d sink into it.

Twice a week, staff came by and picked up the trash and I threw my shit and piss away with the trash. During this time, the cell stunk. My celly has a colostomy bag and must empty it often. But we didn’t even have water to wash our hands or brush our teeth. We told EVERY staff member on every shift about the situation. Even the medical staff who came by to give us our meds simply said they “put a work order in.” Finally, a facility staff member came by and attempted to flush out our commode through an outside pipe, but it just made it over flow even more.

The only fluids that we were given were two half pints of milk each morning, except for the days they gave us powdered milk. After bugging the staff for at least 9 days we finnaly got moved to another cell.
