Prison Pulse Report

One of my visitors was denied this weekend because an officer said her clothes were tainted with drugs. But this visitor has never used or touched drugs, and she bought her clothes specifically for this visit. (they keep the visiting room freezing cold to move visitors out faster.) I know of at least three people who had the same thing happen to their visitors. My visitors spend about $2,200 to come here! Not cheap by any means.

From the wife:

This past weekend, I traveled almost 15 hours to spend time with my husband. The most I can do this is twice a month due to financial reasons and our kids’ schedules. I don’t really have the funds to travel as it is so far, but when I do it means so much to me and him to be able to see and spend time with one another. It is good for his mental state to see his wife and his daughter and know we are here and haven’t stopped loving him or missing him. He worries often about that. But six months ago, and again this time, I was turned away. They used this scanning stick on my clothing (which they don’t always do) and told me I failed and couldn’t visit him. I have NEVER used or possessed drugs. I believe this is retaliation against my husband due to the complaints he has filed against some of the officers.

Every time I go to see my husband, I stop and buy a new outfit the morning of just to have something new for him to see me in. I also have to make sure I’m warm because these officers try and run us out asap by blasting the air on cold so hard that my hair blows in my face. My feet get to the point after just 15 minutes that they feel frozen.

The first time I was denied, the first scan was by a female officer. I passed it of course. Then she turned and looked at another officer and said, “I have to test you again.” I passed again. She said, “Ok, one more time.” And suddenly, I failed it. I wasn’t allowed to go back the next day and try again either. The second time, the officer was already gloved up and holding the stick thing they use, with the strips laid out already. He tested me twice and I supposedly failed both. Note that this was the day after my husband filed a complaint against some officers.

An officer once threw a big trash can at his head; they also beat him up while he was in handcuffs. These men are not dogs and shouldn’t not be treated as such. There are days my husband has to eat bologna for each meal. Or they don’t let them go to commissary for over a month.
