Last week, a staff member fell out from some type of drug exposure and had to be taken to the hospital. We have been on lockdown ever since.
Today, members of out unit team called everyone in, asking them who is bringing in the drugs. Really??? If someone did tell them, trust me they wouldn’t know how to handle it, let alone actually do anything about it. Staff needs to be held accountable. Inmates have been exposed daily to body fluids, fights, demonic behaviors, etc. from different forms of drugs for quite some time. Yet nothing has been done. We are not safe. The answer to the fallouts in September was to place more inmates on the MAT program. But the MAT drugs are heavily abused. The majority of inmates in the program cheek the suboxone, and it makes its way back to the housing units to be sold. Staff is aware of this but do very little to correct the problem. MAT could be a good program if we had better oversight, but we are always short of staff. Thats’ the excuse for every problem here
Now they want to throw a line out and fish for info. But the problem has been here all along; staff simply chose to turn a blind eye. I get that this time, it was one of theirs, and now they want to act. But I want action every time I am exposed, not just when it happens to staff. I am exposed daily to K-2, suboxone. bug spray, etc.
Shaking us down is not solving a damn thing, Start prosecuting the staff and inmates, and things will change.
